Damianova Switches Between Rival Firms

Cadwalader Wickersham & Taft has announced that structured finance attorney Assia Damianova will join their London office. Damianova, formerly of Cadwalader’s rival firm Sidley Austin Brown & Wood, will join the London capital markets team as a special counsel focusing on structured transactions. Representatives from Cadwalader said that the addition of Damianova is part of a London-wide trend to bulk up capital markets team, and yet there is a shortage of available, qualified attorneys.

McDermott Opens IP Practice in Rome

McDermott Will & Emery has announced that it will launch an intellectual property practice in its Italian office in Rome. Heading the firm will be Francesco Mattina, who most recently worked at Roman boutique Gemma Mannino Mattina. Barely two years old, McDermott’s Roman office has grown to house 25 attorneys, including nine partners, and handles Italian corporate, tax and antitrust work.

Locke Liddell & Sapp and Lord Bissell & Brook LLP have announced that two firms will merge in early October.
