Skadden Loses Two Major Partners

Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom has suffered a major hit when two major partners deferred to Kirkland & Ellis.  David Fox and Daniel Wolf made tens of millions of dollars of fees for Skadden.  Fox has practiced with Skadden for more than 20 years and Wolf is one of the youngest attorneys to make partner at the firm.

Cozen O’Connor Receives Charity Award

Cozen O’Connor recently received the honor of placing most charitable in all four categories for large companies at the Corporate Philanthropy Summit held by Philadelphia Business Journal. When compared against both large and small companies, 65 in total, the firm ranks at the 13th most charitable contributor in the region.  In 2007, Cozen donated about $1.7 million.

Clifford Chance Loses Four Partners

Clifford Chance has lost four litigation partners who have decided to start their own arbitration boutique in NY.  Peter Chaffetz , David Lindsey, Charlie Scibetta and James Hosking left to start the firm.  Counsel Cecilia Moss joins them.  The new firm, which officially opened Tuesday, May 5th, is called Chaffetz Lindsey.  It will focus on international arbitration, reinsurance and commercial litigation.

Linklaters Hires Again!

A month has yet to even pass as Linklaters hires its second US partner.  Daniel Dufner joins the firm from White & Case’s New York office.  Linklaters now has 7 partners in its New York’s corporate practice.  Prior to joining White & Case, Dufner practiced with Sullivan & Cromwell.

Taylor Wessing Secures Alliance with Polish Firm

Taylor Wessing and Polish law firm BSJP have secured an alliance.  With what once began as merely friends, helping each other out here and there has now turned into an alliance, which may one day turn into a marriage…I mean merger. BSJP has 7 partners and a total of 20 attorneys.
