Holland & Hart Has Merged

Holland & Hart merges with Nevada firm Hale Lane Peek Dennison and Howard. It will maintain the name of Hollard & Hart. Hollard is already the largest firm in Denver with 365 lawyers, and are going to take on all of Hale’s 50 attorneys. The merger was based on Holland’s aim of growth in Nevada.

Bingham McCutchen Moves to Much Bigger Space

Bingham McCutchen LLP has moved to a bigger building in Boston. The firm has made the jump from 150 Federal Street, its residence for the last 20 years, to 1 Federal Street. The new office has 60,000 square feet more than its previous. Its expansive 315,000 square feet of space is spread across 13 floors, which includes a gym and a cafe. Fewer reasons to leave the office!

Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP has made history in the Republic of China. The firm recently aided Asia Pacific Land (APL) in closing the largest real estate deal ever made in the country. Due to Paul, Hastings’ efforts, APL is now the proud owner of The Center, a Shanghai office in Puxi, purchased for about $650 million US dollars.

For four years, Sullivan & Cromwell has been the top adviser in mergers and acquisitions. But, Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom has just usurped the throne. Skadden is presenting three very large corporations in their three very large (multi-billion dollar) deals. The three companies include: Capline Corp., Time Warner Inc., and BlackRock Inc. In 2007, Skadden made a profit of $2.2 billion, the most profit reportedly ever made by a law firm.

Three IP Partners Leave McDermott For Weil

Three intellectual property partners have recently departed from McDermott, Will & Emery and landed at Weil, Gotshal & Manges. The three include: Brian Ferguson, Mark Davis and Ronald Pabis. 12 years ago, Ferguson and 16 other attorneys left IP firm Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione to help start McDermott’s IP group. Two of those attorneys were Davis and Pabis.

Allen & Overy Partner Leaves To Launch Firm

Henning Harte-Bavendamm, an Intellectual Property and Commerical partner is leaving Allen & Overy to launch his own boutique practice in Hamburg. The firm, named Harte-Bavendamm Rechtsanwälte, will center its practice on Intellectual Property, It commercial and licensing law. It is likely that along with taking three associates from A&O, Harte-Bavendamm is also taking his clients. Some of the main ones include, Sony BMG Music Entertainment, Levis, Audi, TNT, Wella (now owned by Proctor & Gamble) and Germany’s largest brewer, Krombacher.

Pathak Is A Perfect Fit For Gibson Dunn’s Singapore Office
