Cozen O’Connor Desires Expansion in NY

Cozen O’Connor has officially moved into its new office in Manhattan, New York. The new 46,000 square feet space resides on the 19th floor at 277 Park Ave. The firm signed an 11-year sublease. Abby Wenzel, managing partner, explained that the firm is looking to expand. The firm can take in 20 new attorneys and about 10 staff employees.

Las Vegas is New Home to Akerman Senterfitt

Akerman Senterfitt has launched a new office in Las Vegas despite a decrease in revenue. Partner Ariel Stern, who joined the firm Ballard Sparr Andrews & Ingersoll, will be the first to practice out of the new office. The plan is to grow the Las Vegas office to about a dozen attorneys.

King & Spalding Takes Another From Orrick

King & Spalding has hired its fifth professional liability and securities litigation partner from Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe since February. Kenneth Turbull joins the other four in Washington. He spent the last eight years with Orrick.

Anastasia Kelly Finds a Place at DLA Piper

Anastasia Kelly resigned from American International Group in December because of a government imposed a salary cap of $500,000 a year. Kelly has just taken a position with DLA Piper as counsel in the firm’s Washington office. Thomas Russo, formerly senior counsel at Patton Boggs, takes Kelly’s position at AIG.

Steptoe & Johnson’s First Office in Asia

Steptoe & Johnson has just opened its first office in Asia. The first office resides in Beijing. Partner Eric Emerson has relocated from the firm’s Washington office to Beijing. Susan Munro, a lateral partner from O’Melveny & Myers, will also practice out of the new office.
