Clifford Chance Will Cut Partners In Future

Clifford Chance has a plan to aid in becoming the top international firm in the world. The firm will make cuts in its partnership. The numbers are not certain at the moment, and neither is whether the partners will actually vote yes to this proposition. Firm managing partner David Childs has little doubt, however. Both equity and salaried partners will be on the chopping block. Clifford Chance’s 16 percent attorney increase does not correspond to their small increase of profit since 2007.

Akin Gump’s 2008 Revenue Increased in 2008

Surprising to all, Akin Gump revenue’s increased by 3.8 percent in 2008, in spite of many partner defections last year. The firm earned $780.5 million in 2008. Akin lost 59 partners in 2008, more than any other firm, except for those that dissolved. Profits per partner was boosted by 16.7 percent to $1.41 million. It seems reasonable to conclude that because there were fewer partners, the division of profits meant more for all left.
