A former partner at another international firm and previously associate general counsel of tax at Verizon, Ms. Wilson has spent 15 years advising clients on state and local taxation (“SALT”) issues.  Her arrival further establishes the firm as a significant presence in the SALT field.

DLA Piper Advises on Landmark Acquisition Transaction

DLA Piper today announced that it acted as the Hong Kong legal advisers to Schramm Holding AG (HKSE: 00955) (“Schramm”) on its €142 million (HK$ 1.566 billion) public takeover by AkzoNobel, the largest global paints and coatings company in the world. Partner JC Lee and Esther Leung led the deal. Other core members in the team included Phil Lam, Yeti Ho, Richard Lee and Jada Soyun Lee, all from DLA Piper’s Hong Kong office.

Willkie Client Teva Pharmaceutical Closes on Deal to Form Joint Venture with Procter & Gamble

On November 3, Willkie client Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. and The Procter & Gamble Company announced the creation of a new partnership and joint venture in consumer health care. The agreement to form the joint venture, which is to be named PGT Healthcare and headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, was announced in March 2011.

K&L Gates Expands to South America with Launch of São Paulo Office

K&L Gates LLP today opened an office in São Paulo, Brazil, the firm’s first in South America and 39th worldwide. Leading the launch of the office are New York finance partner Marc J. Veilleux and Washington, D.C./London corporate and securities partner Alan J. Berkeley (bios follow release). The São Paulo office is licensed as a foreign legal consultancy, as required by the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB).
