Simpson Thacher Represents the Initial Purchasers in a $1.3 Billion Offering by Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Company

The Tokyo office of the Firm recently represented the initial purchasers, led by Goldman Sachs International, J.P. Morgan Securities LLC, Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith Incorporated, and Nomura Securities International, Inc. in an offering of $1,300,000,000 7.00% Step-up Callable Subordinated Notes due 2072 by Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Company, Limited.  The notes were sold to international investors outside of Japan in reliance on Rule 144A and Regulation S. The notes are listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange.

Simpson Thacher Represents Hop Hing Group in Acquisition of a Leading Fast Food Group in the PRC

Shearman & Sterling Advises HSBC Bank on $500 Million Bridge Loan for Delek Drilling’s and Avner’s Leviathan Gas Field Development Costs and other Israel Offshore Expenditure

Shearman & Sterling has advised HSBC Bank Plc on a $500 million bridge loan for Israeli oil partnerships Avner Oil Exploration LP and Delek Drilling LP. The $250 million loan made to a wholly owned subsidiary of each partnership will help them fund their share of development costs in the Leviathan natural gas field and in other projects under development in the Mediterranean Sea offshore Israel in the Levantine Basin, and is secured against their rights to the Leviathan natural gas field.
