Dechert Adds Emerging Markets Team, Opens in Dubai

Dechert LLP announced today that it will add a leading emerging markets team to its corporate and securities practice. Led by Camille Abousleiman, who will be Head of the firm’s Middle East and Africa practice, the team also includes partners Louise Roman Bernstein, Chris P. Sioufi, Gavin B. Watson and Nicola Mariani. In connection with the team joining, Dechert will open an office in Dubai, in addition to bolstering its existing US and UK capital markets practice groups.

Cozen O’connor Adds Three Dewey & LeBoeuf Attorneys Including Energy Partner Michael D. Klein

Klein will join the firm’s energy, environmental & public utility practice group, splitting his time between the firm’s Washington, D.C., and Harrisburg, Pa., offices. He joins from Dewey & LeBoeuf where he was a partner and practiced for more than 20 years. Also joining the energy, environmental & public utility practice group are former Dewey & LeBoeuf associates Ahren S. Tyron, who will join the firm as a Member, and Joshua L. Belcher who will join as an associate.

High-Profile Team of Corporate and Tax Lawyers Joins DLA Piper in Chicago

DLA Piper today announced that prominent lawyers Neal Aizenstein, Andrew Weil and Michael Legamaro have joined the firm in Chicago as partners. Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance To Acquire Portion of Indian Insurer From New York Life

Paul, Weiss advised Mitsui Sumitomo Life Insurance Co. Ltd (MSI) in its agreement to acquire 26 percent of Max New York Life Insurance Company, a leading Indian life insurance company, for Rs 27.3 billion (approximately $530 million). MSI will, subject to regulatory approval, be acquiring New York Life’s entire stake in the life insurer, which is majority-owned by Max India Limited, a company listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange. The agreement was signed on April 12.

Simpson Thacher Represents Oaktree Capital Group, LLC in the initial public offering of its Class A Units

The Firm represented Oaktree Capital Group, LLC (“Oaktree”) in its initial public offering of 8.8 million units representing limited liability company interests.  Oaktree is a Los Angeles-based investment management firm with approximately $75 billion of assets under management.  Goldman, Sachs & Co. and Morgan Stanley were the joint global coordinators for the $380 million offering.  The units began trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol “OAK” on April 12, 2012.
