Winston & Strawn LLP announced today that highly-regarded corporate finance attorney David L. Batty has rejoined the firm’s Charlotte office as a partner. In addition, Winston has added to its Charlotte office veteran commercial litigator, Amanda Groves, who has been a partner in the firm’s San Francisco office and is chair of the firm’s diversity committee.

The International law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP announced today that Alan R. Greenfield has joined its Chicago office as a shareholder in the Corporate & Securities Practice. He will focus on domestic and international franchising, licensing and distribution matters. A member of the Florida bar, Greenfield will also spend time in the firm’s Miami office.

Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised on the US$1 billion two-part bond issuance by ČEZ, a.s. (České Energetické Závody). The Firm represented Barclays Bank PLC, Citigroup Global Markets Inc., Goldman Sachs International and Société Générale as joint lead managers on the issue. The offering is comprised of US$700 million tranche of 4.250% notes due 2022 and US$300 million tranch of 5.625% notes due 2042.

Field Fisher Waterhouse LLP announces today the appointment of finance partner Hélène Lefebvre who joins the firm’s Paris office.

Covington & Burling advised Tom Benson, the longtime owner of the New Orleans Saints, in his purchase of the New Orleans Hornets for an undisclosed sum. The purchase and related agreements were finalized this week. Closing is expected before the end of June.
