Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance To Acquire Portion of Indian Insurer From New York Life

Paul, Weiss advised Mitsui Sumitomo Life Insurance Co. Ltd (MSI) in its agreement to acquire 26 percent of Max New York Life Insurance Company, a leading Indian life insurance company, for Rs 27.3 billion (approximately $530 million). MSI will, subject to regulatory approval, be acquiring New York Life’s entire stake in the life insurer, which is majority-owned by Max India Limited, a company listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange. The agreement was signed on April 12.

Simpson Thacher Represents Oaktree Capital Group, LLC in the initial public offering of its Class A Units

The Firm represented Oaktree Capital Group, LLC (“Oaktree”) in its initial public offering of 8.8 million units representing limited liability company interests.  Oaktree is a Los Angeles-based investment management firm with approximately $75 billion of assets under management.  Goldman, Sachs & Co. and Morgan Stanley were the joint global coordinators for the $380 million offering.  The units began trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol “OAK” on April 12, 2012.

Littler’s Chicago Office Lands a Group of Three Strengthening Firm’s National Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation Practice
