Holland & Knight to Open Office in Bogotá, Colombia

The law firm of Holland & Knight announced today its intent to open a new office in Bogotá, Colombia. Attorneys in the office, along with those throughout the firm, will primarily provide counsel to non-Colombian companies that wish to enter the Colombian market and assist Colombian enterprises as they look to expand abroad. Holland & Knight will be only the second major U.S.-based law firm to have an office in Colombia.

Baker & McKenzie Client Fresenius Medical Care Completes Liberty Dialysis Acquisition

Baker & McKenzie client Fresenius Medical Care AG & Co. KGaA, the world’s largest provider of dialysis products and services, today announced that Fresenius Medical Care North America has closed the acquisition of Liberty Dialysis Holdings, Inc., the holding company of Liberty Dialysis and Renal Advantage.  The closing follows the completion of the review of the transaction and issuance of a consent decree by the United States Federal Trade Commission.  In connection with the consent decree, Fresenius Medical Care intends to divest its interests in 62 dialysis clinics.  The acquisition of Liberty Dialysis Holdings Inc. is expected to add annual revenues of around $700 million and 201 clinics to Fresenius Medical Care’s network for an investment, net of proceeds from the divestiture, of approximately $1.5 billion.

Hogan Lovells Advises Russian Mining Company on the Sale of a 50% Stake in Yaroslavskaya Gornorudnaya Kompaniya

Hogan Lovells advised  RGRK (Russian Mining Company) on the sale of a 50% stake in a limited liability company “Yaroslavskaya Gornorudnaya Kompaniya”, the sole producer and supplier of fluorspar concentrate in Russia, to the Hong Kong listed aluminium and alumina giant UC RUSAL.  As a result of the deal, UC RUSAL will strengthen its own resource base as it looks to be self-sufficient in raw materials.  The deal, which signed in January 2012, will complete in the week of 13 February.
