The international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP has announced that it opened an office in Warsaw, Poland and strategically established a presence in Eastern Europe with a 50-plus-lawyer team formerly with Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP. The firm’s 35th office will operate as Greenberg Traurig Grzesiak in Poland. Jaroslaw Grzesiak, former managing partner of Dewey’s Warsaw office, serves as the managing partner and Lejb Fogelman as the senior partner.

Global law firm K&L Gates LLP has added real estate partner Andrei V. Soukhomlinov and corporate and finance partner Dmitry K. Gladkov to its Moscow office. Soukhomlinov joins K&L Gates from Salans LLP, where he was co-head of its Russian real estate/construction practice, while Gladkov was formerly the general counsel for Russia/CIS at leading Russian investment bank Aton and, prior to that, at UBS.

International law firm McDermott Will & Emery today announced that one of the nation’s leading antitrust attorneys, Allan Van Fleet, will join the Firm as a partner in Houston as a member of its Antitrust & Competition Practice Group. Mr. Van Fleet and associate Nicholas G. Grimmer join McDermott from the Houston office of an AmLaw 10 law firm. The two will join McDermott partner and former Department of Justice Antitrust Division Deputy Assistant Attorney General Alison Smith and her team in Houston, a “go-to” antitrust firm in Texas.

King & Wood Mallesons advised Sydney Water and the NSW Government on the successful refinancing of Sydney Desalination Plant for $2.3 billion. KWM worked alongside the other lead advisers Goldman Sachs and KPMG as part of a project team consisting of representatives from the Department of Premier and Cabinet, Treasury, and the Department of Finance and Services. Hogan Lovells has been advising JKC Australia LNG (a joint venture between Japan’s JGC Corporation, Houston-based KBR and Japan’s Chiyoda Corporation) in relation to the US$34 billion Ichthys LNG Project in Australia. JKC signed a contract with INPEX earlier this year for the engineering, procurement and construction of the onshore LNG facilities, to be built near Darwin in Australia.
