Paul Hastings, a leading global law firm, announced today that the firm represented the initial purchasers on an offering of 8.375% senior guaranteed notes due 2017 of Empresas ICA, S.A.B. de C.V. (BMV:ICA) (NYSE:ICA), Mexico’s largest construction and infrastructure operations company. Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Deutsche Bank and Goldman Sachs were lead bookrunners with BBVA, Morgan Stanley and Santander as initial purchasers. The deal was upsized from US$300 million and was more than six times oversubscribed reflecting strong investor interest in Latin America high yield issuances. Proceeds of the high yield debt offering will be used to pay short term debt.

The financing agreements for VTB Bank’s VTB Arena were signed in Moscow in a recent ceremony attended by Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti. VTB Bank has borrowed a €500 million loan for the construction of the stadium, which has been heralded as one of the Russian Federation’s largest development projects. The stadium will be jointly owned by Dynamo FC, a Moscow team that plays in the Russian Premier League, and VTB Bank, which owns a majority stake in the team. The stadium will be a focal part of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted by Russia.

Shearman & Sterling Overturns €1 Billion Seizure of LIA Assets in Italy
Shearman & Sterling has succeeded in obtaining an order from the Court of Appeals in Rome overturning the seizure of approximately €1 billion in assets held in Italy by the Libyan Investment Authority (“LIA”). The seizure was implemented by Italian judicial authorities in March 2012 following a request received from the International Criminal Court in the Hague.
