Sheppard Mullin Opens Seoul Office

Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP announced today the opening of a Seoul office in the Mirae Asset CENTER. The new office, which is the firm’s sixteenth location, opens following last month’s Korean Bar Association registration of the firm’s foreign legal consultant office in Seoul, the final regulatory step needed by the firm to open a Korean office. Sheppard Mullin is among the first three law firms in the United States and the European Union approved to open in Korea.

Weil Advises Getty Images, Inc. in $3.3 Billion Sale to The Carlyle Group and Management

International law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP announced today that it served as legal adviser to Getty Images, Inc., the world’s leading creator and distributor of visual content and other digital media, in its sale by Hellman & Friedman to a partnership comprised of global alternative asset manager The Carlyle Group and Getty Images management for $3.3 billion.

Perkins Coie’s Chicago Office Continues on Growth Trajectory

Perkins Coie is pleased to announce that Randy A. Bridgeman has joined the firm’s Chicago office as a Partner in the firm’s Corporate Governance & Transactions Practice. He was most recently a Partner at K&L Gates LLP, where he was head of the Corporate group for the Chicago office. Bridgeman was also a partner at Chicago-based Bell, Boyd & Lloyd LLP, prior to its merger with K&L Gates in 2009. Bridgeman is the 11th partner to join Perkins Coie’s Chicago office this year.

Loeb & Loeb Represents Verint Systems in Acquisition of Comverse Technology

Loeb & Loeb LLP represented a special committee of the board of directors of Verint Systems Inc., a provider of analytic software solutions for the security and business intelligence markets, in its announced acquisition of Comverse Technology Inc. The all-stock deal, valued at approximately $805 million, will eliminate Comverse’s majority ownership in and control of Verint.

O’Melveny Represents Coller Capital in the Acquisition of Private Equity Assets from Lloyds Banking Group plc by a Fund Financed by Coller International Partners VI

O’Melveny & Myers LLP advised long-term client Coller Capital on the approximately £1.03 billion acquisition by a fund financed by Coller International Partners VI (CIP VI) of a portfolio of private equity-related investments, as well as the transfer of £220 million of undrawn commitments, from Lloyds Banking Group plc. This transaction is believed to be the largest unsyndicated secondaries deal ever completed. The O’Melveny London-based team was led by partner Solomon Wifa.

Herbert Smith Advises Standard Chartered Bank on the Establishment of a S$750 Million EMTN Programme by LMIRT Capital Pte Ltd

Herbert Smith has recently advised Standard Chartered Bank as the arranger and dealer on the establishment of a S$750 million Euro Medium Term Note (“EMTN”) programme by LMIRT Capital Pte Ltd and the first two fixed rate note issues under that programme. The EMTN programme is guaranteed by HSBC Institutional Trust Services (Singapore) Limited, in its capacity as trustee of Lippo Malls Indonesia Retail Trust (the “LMIRT Trust”). The first two note issues under the EMTN programme comprise the series 1 S$200 million 4.88% Notes due 2015 and the series 2 S$50 million 5.875% Notes due 2017.

King & Spalding Advises Spain’s Biggest Gas and Electric Company on Purchase of U.S.-Sourced LNG from Sabine Pass Liquefaction, LLC

King and Spalding has advised Gas Natural Fenosa on the purchase of almost 5 billion cubic meters of LNG per year – an amount equivalent to 15% of annual Spanish natural gas consumption – from U.S.-based Sabine Pass Liquefaction, LLC. Sabine Pass is an affiliate of Cheniere Energy, Inc., which announced today the completion of all milestones and issuance of a full notice to proceed to construct the first two trains of the approximate $5.6 billion Sabine Pass liquefaction project in Cameron Parish, Louisiana. The LNG purchase agreement will have an initial term of 20 years.
