Leading Projects Lawyer, John Cooper, Joins Jones Day in Sydney

The global law firm Jones Day announced today that John Cooper, one of Australia’s leading projects lawyers, has joined the Firm in Sydney as a partner in the Global Disputes Practice. Mr. Cooper spent 26 years at Allens and its predecessor firms, where he rose to senior partner in its Projects Practice Group in Sydney.

MMM Adds Second Tax Partner in Two Weeks

Gerald V. Thomas II is the newest addition to the expanding Tax Practice at Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP. Thomas joined the firm as a Partner in the Atlanta office, where he works in the Tax, Corporate, Funds & Alternative Investments, M&A and Real Estate Capital Markets Practices. He is the second Tax partner added in two weeks; MMM added another partner, Anthony Boggs, last month.

Linklaters Advises on the Financial Close of the Jorf Lasfar IPP Expansion in Morocco

Linklaters has acted as global counsel for the lenders on the closing of the landmark US$1.4bn equivalent multi currency limited recourse project financing of the Jorf Lasfar IPP Expansion. The lenders comprised Export Credit Agencies (JBIC and NEXI of Japan and KEXIM of South Korea) and the Mandated Lead Arrangers (BNPP, Standard Chartered, Société Générale and Banque Centrale Populaire of Morocco). The Sponsor is the Abu Dhabi National Energy Company PJSC (“TAQA”). Whilst the key finance documents were signed on 20 June 2012, financial close occurred on 28 January 2013 following agreement of outstanding project documents, the hedging documentation and the implementation of the security package.
