Reed Smith LLP today announced the addition of Angela Angelovska-Wilson as a partner its Financial Industry Group (FIG), which comprises some 275 attorneys worldwide. Angelovska-Wilson, former counsel at Latham & Watkins LLP, will work from the firm’s Washington, D.C. office.

Orrick Expands Intellectual Property Practice in New York

Simpson Thacher Represents Underwriters and Lenders in Debt Refinancing Transactions by Energy Transfer Equity, L.P.

Simpson Thacher represented the underwriters, led by Credit Suisse Securities (USA) LLC and Deutsche Bank Securities Inc., in connection with a registered offering by Energy Transfer Equity, L.P. (“ETE”) of $450 million aggregate principal amount of its 5.875% Senior Notes due 2024. The Firm also represented Credit Suisse Securities (USA) LLC, other lead arrangers, Credit Suisse AG, Cayman Islands Branch, and other lenders in connection with a new $1 billion senior secured term loan facility and a new $600 million revolving credit facility.

Simpson Thacher Represents the International Managers in IPO of AEON REIT

The Firm recently represented the international managers in connection with the initial public offering of AEON REIT Investment Corporation on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, which included an international offering pursuant to Regulation S.  The offering raised ¥91.3 billion (approximately $900 million) for the issuer, which was used together with bank financing to acquire an initial portfolio of large-scale retail facilities from the Aeon Group.  Nomura, Mizuho and J.P. Morgan acted as international joint lead managers for the offering.
