Polsinelli Continues Growth of Corporate and Transactional Practice with Addition of Kansas City Attorney Michael Van Dyke

Polsinelli is pleased to welcome accomplished attorney Michael Van Dyke as Senior Partner practicing in its Kansas City, Mo. headquarters office. Van Dyke brings more than 40 years of experience to the firm’s growing national Corporate and Transactional practice.

Van Dyke focuses on mergers and acquisitions, corporate formation and finance, private equity and venture capital, consumer and secured lending, strategic partnerships and joint ventures, incentives and development, corporate governance and risk management, and business finance matters. He works with businesses in a variety of industries, advising business investors, banks, real estate developers and others within a variety of industries including those involved in the transportation, finance, manufacturing, distribution, health care, insurance and non-profit sectors.

Van Dyke’s experience includes acting as outside general counsel to several regional and national clients, including one of the largest lenders to U.S. military personnel in the country. For more than 30 years, he served as general counsel to one of the region’s largest public transportation providers, and for one of the largest educational seminar companies in the world.

For over 35 years, VanDyke has maintained the highest rating (AV) by Martindale Hubbell, a peer-recognition method, for his legal expertise.

Van Dyke has authored legal articles or lectured on behalf of and served on editorial boards for the University of Missouri Business and Public Administrative Review, UMKC Law Review, The Missouri Bar, the Urban Lawyer (the ABA Journal on Local Government Law), the Kansas City Bar Association CLE, The National Business Institute and the annual KCMBA “Bench Bar and Boardroom” conferences. For over 30 years VanDyke has been the lead author for The Missouri Bar’s Corporate Business Organization Deskbook Chapter “Patterns of Sale,” which covers various legal, tax, regulatory, corporate and business issues confronting lawyers involved in business transfers.

VanDyke has served as pro bono legal counsel and/or served as a trustee or board member for many non-profit clients, including Rockhurst University CEC, Rockhurst High School, Avila University, The Arthritis Institute, the KC District Counsel Society of St. Vincent de Paul and the Irish Museum and Cultural Center. Van Dyke earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Notre Dame, and received a J.D. and Master of Laws, LL.M. degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
