Akerman today announced the continued expansion of its national Litigation Practice Group with the addition of partner Jonathon Pressley, a commercial litigator and trusted advisor to businesses, executives, and organizations facing high-stakes disputes and complex intellectual property challenges. Pressley joins the firm from Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP.
“Jonathon is an exceptional litigator whose combination of commercial, appellate, and intellectual property experience strengthens the depth of our national litigation bench,” said Lawrence Rochefort, chair of Akerman’s Litigation Practice Group. “His ability to navigate high-stakes, multi-layered disputes makes him a tremendous asset to our clients and our team. We are excited to welcome him to the Jacksonville office.”
Jonathon represents clients in civil litigation matters in state and federal courts, focusing on intricate business disputes that span complex contract claims, products liability defense, officer and director disputes, trust and probate litigation, construction disputes, real property litigation, commercial landlord-tenant disputes, insurance coverage disputes, unfair and deceptive trade practices claims, fraud and fraudulent transfer claims, creditors’ rights and loan enforcement disputes, defamation claims, and non-compete matters.
Jonathon also maintains a robust intellectual property practice. He regularly represents clients in trademark and copyright infringement disputes, trade secret disputes, licensing agreement disputes, trademark policing, anti-cybersquatting claims, takedown claims under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, and trademark opposition proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.
