Bracewell & Giuliani LLP is currently serving as Chapter 11 counsel to Athens-based Omega Navigation Enterprises, Inc.  In what industry observers are calling a “landmark victory” after more than 5 months of “bet the company” litigation, the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas has rejected motions to dismiss or convert Omega’s chapter 11 cases or for relief from stay filed by Omega’s Senior Lenders and supported by Omega’s Junior Lenders and Unsecured Creditors’ Committee.

Bracewell & Giuliani To Add 14 Public Finance Partners

Bracewell & Giuliani LLP announced today that 14 members of a public finance and related tax and municipal securities practice at Vinson & Elkins LLP will join the firm as partners in January 2012. Morgan Lewis Advises ConocoPhillips on Sale of Company’s Interest in Seaway Crude Pipeline System as Part of $2 Billion Sale of U.S. Pipeline Assets

ConocoPhillips announced today that it has entered into an agreement with Enbridge Inc. to sell its ownership interest in the Seaway Crude Pipeline System. The transaction is anticipated to close in December, subject to satisfaction of customary conditions and completion of certain arrangements regarding other logistics services currently provided by SCPC to ConocoPhillips.

Porter Hedges Represents Management Group in the $1 Billion Private Equity Backed Formation of Maverick American Natural Gas

Porter Hedges represented a management and investor group in the formation of Maverick American Natural Gas (Maverick). Maverick is a new $1 billion private equity backed acquisition fund formed for the purpose of acquiring, operating, and developing conventional natural gas reserves in North America. The management and investment group was led by oil exploration and production entrepreneur Dan A. Hughes, Jr. who partnered with energy acquisition and development executive Thomas M. Hart and global private equity firm TPG Capital. Mr. Hughes will serve as Maverick’s Chairman and Mr. Hart will serve as its President.
