K&L Gates Bolsters Energy Practice with Houston Partner Addition

The Houston office of global law firm K&L Gates LLP welcomes Anthony F. Newton as a partner in its energy and infrastructure projects and transactions practice. He joins the firm from Haynes and Boone, LLP.

Newton primarily represents clients in the oil and gas exploration and production, oilfield services, and storage sectors of the energy industry on a variety of corporate, finance, private equity, and tax matters. Recently, these matters have included advising a private oil and gas drilling company in its $58.5 million sale to a publicly-held Canadian energy company; a private oil and gas software company in an international FCPA audit and $65 million sale to a publicly-held U.S. energy company; a U.S. subsidiary of a publicly-held Danish company in connection with the $768 million acquisition of a Swedish manufacturing company; and a real property development company in a $440 million three-tiered refinancing.

“We are delighted to have Tony bring his extensive energy experience to our Houston office as we continue to build out this key location for our global oil and gas practice,” said Eugene C. Pridgen, K&L Gates’ Managing Partner, U.S.

Newton is the fourth new partner to join K&L Gates’ Houston office this month, following the earlier additions of Arthur Howard (corporate), Bruce Blefeld (antitrust), and Trey Monsour (restructuring and bankruptcy). He becomes the office’s sixth partner since its February opening.
