Baker & McKenzie Boosts Capital Markets Practice in Hong Kong and PRC

Baker & McKenzie is pleased to announce that veteran corporate and securities lawyer Lance Chen has re-joined the Firm. Mr Chen joined Baker & McKenzie’s Hong Kong office as a partner on 1 January to head the Firm’s US Securities Practice Group in Hong Kong and China. He adds extensive experience in international securities transactions to the Firm’s well-regarded Securities practice.

Mr. Chen has more than a decade of experience in advising Chinese and international companies on capital markets transactions, M&A deals and corporate restructuring, with a strong focus on listings and initial public offerings and secondary fund raising transactions including share placement, rights issue and bond issues.

“We are delighted to have Lance re-join the Firm,” said Paul Tan, Managing Partner of Baker & McKenzie’s Hong Kong, China and Vietnam offices. “His wealth of experience in international securities offering and cross-border M&A further strengthens our ability to assist our Chinese clients with their global aspirations.”

“Companies are increasingly looking beyond their home jurisdictions to raise capital, and Asia is fast becoming the center of gravity for IPO activities. Lance’s appointment will enhance our Firm’s already strong capabilities in the capital markets area, and position us well to assist our domestic and global clients with their cross-border fund raising activities,” said Ashok Lalwani, Head of the Firm’s Securities and US Securities Practice for the Asia Pacific region.

Mr. Chen joins Baker & McKenzie from ICBC International Capital Limited. Previously he worked at JP Morgan. Mr. Chen was a US Securities Partner at Baker & McKenzie from 2000 to 2004. He is qualified and licenced as an attorney in California.
