International law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has assisted Sunshine Oilsands on its secondary listing on the Toronto Stock Exchange (“TSX”).
Sunshine Oilsands is primarily focused on the development and production of oil sands within its leased area in the Athabasca oil sands region in Alberta, Canada.
Freshfields is Hong Kong counsel for Sunshine Oilsands, supporting the company and its Canadian counsel through the secondary listing process and compliance with the Hong Kong listing rules.
Freshfields advised Sunshine Oilsands earlier this year as the first Alberta incorporated company and the first oil sands business to list on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in its US$579 million IPO.
Sunshine Oilsands commenced trading on Friday, 16 November 2012 (Toronto time) on the TSX. Sunshine Oilsands will neither raise additional funds nor issue any new shares in connection with the listing on the TSX, and it will maintain its primary listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
The Freshfields deal team is led by China Chairman Teresa Ko and China Head of Corporate Practice Ken Martin supported by associate Eric Cheung.
