Paul Hastings Advises Tan-Eu Capital on Sotan China Real Estate I, LP’s First Investment

Paul Hastings, a leading global law firm, announced today that it advised Tan-Eu Capital (“Tan-Eu”), the Hong Kong-based private equity real estate firm, with respect to Sotan China Real Estate I, LP’s first investment – the acquisition of a 1 million square foot development site in Wuqing, Tianjin from a local investor. A mixed-use development comprised of retail and residential space is planned for the site.

The investment in Wuqing is in line with Tan-Eu’s strategy of targeting under-developed areas in China with strong growth potential. As contemplated by the fund’s mandate, the acquisition was consummated pursuant to a co-investment between Sotan China Real Estate I, LP and an affiliate of SOCAM Development.
Paul Hastings advised Tan-Eu last February on its role as co-sponsor in the US$400 million closing of Sotan China Real Estate I, LP, a real estate private equity vehicle 50:50 managed with SOCAM Development.
The Paul Hastings team was led by partners Derek Roth and John Cahill.
