Freshfields advises on Fast Retailing secondary listing of HDRs in Hong Kong

International law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has advised the sole sponsor on the secondary listing of Hong Kong depositary receipts (HDRs) of Fast Retailing Co., Ltd. (Fast Retailing) by way of introduction on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, which took place today.

Fast Retailing is a Japanese retail holding company listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. The company is one of the world’s leading fashion retailers and owns apparel brands including UNIQLO, GU, Theory, Comptoir des Cotonniers, Princess tam.tam and J Brand.

The listing is one of the most significant Japanese listings to take place outside of Japan in recent years.

Freshfields advised the sole sponsor, Morgan Stanley Asia Limited, on the Hong Kong, Japanese and US law aspects of the listing.

The Freshfields team was led by China chairman Teresa Ko, Hong Kong corporate partner Grace Huang, US corporate partner Ken Martin and Tokyo corporate partners Junzaburo Kiuchi and Edward Cole.
