Schiff Hardin LLP Welcomes Francis X. Lyons as a Partner in the Environmental Group

Francis X. Lyons has joined the Schiff Hardin LLP Chicago office as a partner in the Environmental Group from Bryan Cave LLP in Chicago.

Mr. Lyons counsels clients on diverse environmental issues including project development, regulatory compliance, brownfields redevelopment, corporate investigations, environmental audits and due diligence, administrative and judicial enforcement, litigation, and permit negotiations and appeals. Before entering private practice, Mr. Lyons served as a Regional Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), where he was responsible for leading and implementing policy and enforcement initiatives for the Great Lakes Region. He represented the region in dealings with other federal agencies, state and local officials, and industry and public interest groups, and he served as the Great Lakes National Program Manager, overseeing the U.S. EPA’s national and international policies on protecting and restoring the Great Lakes.

He graduated from Loyola University Chicago School of Law (J.D., 1988) and University of Minnesota (B.A., History, 1984).
