Morgan Lewis Stamford today announces that Guan Feng Chen will join the firm as a finance partner resident in Singapore focusing on complex cross-border financings and private corporate debt restructurings. He will arrive from White & Case, where he is co-leader of the Asia banking and restructuring practice.
Guan Feng has represented clients throughout Southeast Asia, particularly in Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia, in numerous high-profile and groundbreaking deals, a number of which were the first of their kind in the Asian market. Over the course of his career—which he began as a Morgan Lewis associate in 1996—he also has worked in Hong Kong and London.
“Our global clients will benefit tremendously from Guan Feng’s deep understanding of complex cross-border transactions and restructurings involving multiple jurisdictions,” said Firm Chair Jami McKeon. “I am so pleased to welcome him back to our firm as we continue to demonstrate our strong commitment to the Asia-Pacific region.”
Morgan Lewis established a major presence in Singapore in 2015 following its combination with Stamford Law Corporation, one of Singapore’s most highly regarded law firms. Since then, the firm’s Asia practice has experienced considerable growth by establishing an office in Hong Kong through an affiliation with Luk & Partners and expanding its offices in Beijing, Shanghai, and Tokyo. In recent months alone, Morgan Lewis has added new partners in Tokyo, Beijing, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
“Guan Feng is another perfect fit for our cross-border team,” said Suet-Fern Lee, a corporate partner in Singapore and chair of the firm’s International Leadership Team. “His wide-ranging background of implementing structures that balance innovation with practicality complement our capabilities throughout Southeast Asia and around the world.”
“With more than 20 years of experience, Guan Feng offers our clients an impressive track record of executing unique deals,” said Jonathan Bernstein, leader of Morgan Lewis’s global finance practice. “I am delighted that they will gain from his exceptionally deep regional knowledge and extensive global involvement.”
