Bird & Bird Establishes Real Estate Practice in Spain With The Appointment of Isidro del Moral

Bird & Bird is delighted to welcome Isidro del Moral as a Real Estate partner in its Madrid office, a move which will strengthen the firm’s capabilities in one of the most important sectors within the Spanish economy.

Isidro’s appointment allows the firm to combine its expertise in Real Estate, Hotels & Leisure and Franchising to take advantage of the increasing interest from international investors and family offices.

Previously a partner at Baker & McKenzie, and joining from Broseta, Isidro has managed a multidisciplinary team, acting primarily for investors and family offices on real estate transactions including the acquisition of unique buildings, known office buildings, shopping centres, real estate portfolios and a number of sale and lease-back operations. Isidro also has extensive experience in the hotel industry, having participated and worked with renowned companies, both in the purchase or sale of hotels, and in leases and hotel management.

In addition, he also has solid experience in the distribution sector, having worked in an in-house counsel role as part of a Spanish food and drinks company.

Isidro has been joined by senior associate Jacobo Sanchez-Andrade who has nearly fifteen years of experience in the sector.

Jonathan Baker, Head of International Real Estate commented: “We are very pleased with the arrival of Isidro which reinforces our practice in Spain and the close collaboration with our Corporate, Tax and Commercial teams. He also brings a quality and dynamism that will enable us to meet the real estate needs of international clients.”

Jesus Vega, Managing Director of the Madrid office commented: “We are very excited about the addition of Isidro, not only to provide us with world class expertise in his areas of specialisation such as housing and food, but also to continue to deliver our ambitious project to develop our network nationally and internationally to continue the strategic growth plan of the Madrid office.”

Isidro added: “It’s very exciting to be joining the Bird & Bird team, and I look forward to continuing to grow the Real Estate practice both in Spain, and internationally with my colleagues.”

Bird & Bird, which last month celebrated its tenth anniversary in Spain, is committed to growth in the Madrid office with the opening of new departments, and has strengthened its main areas of expertise with the addition of professionals from different practices.
