Olswang Strengthens Its Leading IP Practice with Addition of New Partner Justin Hill

Olswang, one of a small handful of “go to” firms for IP in Europe and Asia, has boosted its leading IP Practice with the hire of Dr Justin Hill. The news comes as Olswang has been recognised by leading legal directory Chambers & Partners as one of only 3 band 1 IP firms (London) in its 2013 UK edition.

Prior to joining a boutique IP firm as Head of Patents in 2010, Justin spent ten years at McDermott Will & Emery, during which time he became Head of the European IP Prosecution & Opposition Practices. Justin’s sector expertise in high-tech through to life sciences is broad and he holds a first-class degree in Chemistry with Business Studies and a PhD in Semiconductor Physics, which makes for a high level of specialised knowledge in relationships with clients. Justin joined Olswang today as Co-Chair of the Patent Prosecution Group.

Justin has been regularly recognised as a leader in IP by all the main legal directories and the most recent edition of Chambers UK has ranked him as a band 1 individual who provides “excellent service for all aspects of IP prosecution“. Justin has been a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys since 2002 and is a member of the European Patent Institute; he also sits on the Computer Technology Committee.

Justin commented: “I am delighted to be joining Olswang. To succeed in increasingly competitive environments, tech companies of all sizes need world class and efficient legal services – across disciplines and across borders. These are available via Olswang’s flexible IP services platform and I look forward to contributing my experience and building out the offering.”

Welcoming this strategic addition to the practice, Head of International IP Group Paul Stevens said: “We are delighted to welcome Justin to the only truly full-service, cross-border IP team in Europe. Our practice has gone from strength to strength with over 100 lawyers across our offices internationally and we look forward to Justin bringing in his portfolio management, exploitation and enforcement expertise.”
