Husch Blackwell welcomes Lise T. Spacapan as a Partner in the firm’s Chicago office. A Business Litigation attorney especially skilled in the areas of Product Liability and Toxic Tort, Spacapan defends high-stakes lawsuits faced by manufacturers of chemicals, prescription drugs, vaccines, medical devices, automotive products, insecticides, building and industrial products. In commercial litigation, she has represented clients throughout the country in matters involving class actions, contract warranty, indemnity, insurance, environmental and personal injury cases.
Spacapan is a National Director for DRI, the largest defense bar in the country. She serves on steering committees for the DRI Corporate Counsel Roundtable and the National Foundation for Judicial Excellence Symposium, which is held annually for Appellate and Supreme Court judges across the country. She also previously chaired DRI’s Toxic Tort & Environmental Law Committee. Spacapan is widely published and the editor of a 45-chapter treatise published by the Practising Law Institute titled Product Liability Litigation: Current Law, Strategies and Best Practices. In addition, Spacapan is a Master of the Bench in the Chicago Inn of Court and a selected member of the International Association of Defense Counsel.
Spacapan previously was a partner at Jenner & Block and served as Co-Chair of its Products Liability practice group, and as a member of its Complex Commercial Litigation group (1997-2013). Spacapan began her legal practice at Kirkland & Ellis, LLP (1984-1997).
Spacapan received her J.D. from DePaul University College of Law in Chicago (1984), where she was Editor-in-Chief of DePaul Law Review. She received her B.S. from Vanderbilt University.
