Eric E. Boyd joins Thompson Coburn’s Environmental Group

Thompson Coburn LLP is proud to announce that Eric E. Boyd has joined the firm as a partner in its Environmental Group. Boyd is based in Thompson Coburn’s Chicago office. Previously, he was a partner at Seyfarth Shaw LLP.

For more than 25 years, Boyd has helped business clients navigate the ever-expanding universe of environmental laws. He represents clients in the Midwest and throughout the country across a wide spectrum of litigation, environmental regulatory compliance and transactional matters. His clients include major businesses in the chemical, food, agricultural products, transportation and manufacturing industries, among others. For these clients, Boyd has helped obtain favorable permits under air, water, wetland, solid and hazardous waste, hazardous material transportation, and underground injection control programs. He also has defended clients facing local, state, federal, and citizen suits alleging violations of environmental requirements.

Boyd’s litigation experience is bolstered by his substantial work in Clean Air Act litigation, including many New Source Review enforcement matters, as well as cases involving toxic torts, indoor air quality, off-site exposure, vapor intrusion, and odor and other nuisance claims. For real estate and corporate transactions, Boyd leads environmental due diligence and helps clients find creative, cost-effective ways to resolve contamination and compliance issues so the transaction can move forward. Recently, he has also assisted clients on matters involving greenhouse gases, renewable and clean energy, and “green” marketing.

“We are pleased and excited to have Eric Boyd join us,” said Peter Strassner, co-chair of Thompson Coburn’s Environmental Group. “He is a strong client advocate and a knowledgeable and versatile environmental lawyer. Eric’s extensive experience in handling air permitting and air-related litigation matters further strengthens our Clean Air Act practice, and he will be a major contributor in numerous other areas as well.”

Boyd earned his law degree, cum laude, from Indiana University School of Law, where he was the executive editor of the Indiana Law Journal. He earned a B.S. with honors from Northwestern University.
