DAC Beachcroft Acquires Leading Professional Indemnity Team in Newport

International law firm DAC Beachcroft has added a top-rated Professional Indemnity team in south Wales, led by Partner Clare Hughes-Williams.

Clare and her team, which comprises one Associate and three Solicitors, will join the firm from Morgan Cole on 1 May. Working as part of DAC Beachcroft’s market-leading Professional & Commercial Risk practice, the team will be based in the firm’s Newport office.

Described as ‘stand-out’ by key legal guide Chambers and Partners, Clare is an experienced and widely-respected practitioner and has led Morgan Cole’s Professional Indemnity team since 2002. She has a leading reputation in respect of solicitors’ negligence but the team handles claims against the full range of professions, including accountants and surveyors.

Commenting on the appointment, Partner Marcus Campbell, who leads DAC Beachcroft’s Professional Indemnity practice in Bristol, said: “We are delighted to welcome Clare and her team to the firm. They are the only specialist Professional Indemnity team in Wales and will enable us to support our clients’ requirements in Wales, as part of our national team working from offices across England and Scotland. We look forward to working closely with them all.”

Marcus added: “The professional indemnity market is becoming increasingly competitive with the rationalisation of insurer panels and ever-increasing pressure on rates but DAC Beachcroft is uniquely well-placed in the market. The appointment of Clare and her team is further testament to our commitment to recruiting high-quality teams with the reputation and ability both to provide a first-rate service to our existing clients and to attract new business.”

Newport-based Partner Sally Roff, who leads DAC Beachcroft’s national Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) Group, added: “This addition significantly extends the services we are able to offer to clients in South Wales and continues our programme of ongoing investment in the region, which is good news for local businesses and the legal community alike.”
