Hogan Lovells Advises Arris on US$2 Billion Purchase of Google’s Motorola Home Unit

Hogan Lovells is proud to announce that it secured antitrust clearance from the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) for client Arris’ proposed US$2.35 billion purchase of Google Inc.’s Motorola Home unit. With this final approval, the communications technology company has received all of the necessary regulatory authorizations surrounding the purchase. The acquisition is expected to close later this week.

Arris expects to gain close to 1,000 patents covering, among other things, technology used in video processing and digital rights management. The transaction is expected to create a global player in innovative end-to-end broadband video solutions.

The Hogan Lovells team was led by Washington, D.C. partner Logan Breed and included associates Chris Rowan, Meghan Edwards-Ford, Christine Habeeb, Joby Ryan, Charlie Dickinson, Robert Baldwin, Wes Carson, Tracy Januzzi, and Lauren Battaglia.
