Squire Sanders Adds Veteran Partner to Real Estate Practice

Squire Sanders is pleased to announce that Gregory E. Young has joined the firm’s Real Estate Practice Group as a partner in its West Palm Beach office. He joins from Edwards Wildman where he was a partner in the Real Estate Department, Chair of the Public Policy & Governmental Relations Department, and through the years and in several capacities, a member of the firm-wide management team.

“We’re delighted to have someone with Greg’s credentials join the firm. His vast real estate sector experience and deep connections, both nationally and across Florida, are a valuable addition to our practice and will be an asset to our clients,” said John Thomas, chair of the Squire Sanders Real Estate Practice Group.

Mr. Young’s practice spans various areas of real estate law, including land use, development and transactions. He has particular knowledge in commercial real estate transactions and development, in which his experience includes counseling clients on acquisitions/sales, leasing and financing of commercial, industrial, residential and mixed-use properties, restructurings and work-outs. Mr. Young also has significant experience working with clients in the Town of Palm Beach and similar coastal communities with “ultra” high-end residential real estate needs. During his lengthy practice, he has also assisted on matters relating to land use and zoning, permitting, development and re-development, construction, tax and environmental aspects of real estate law.

His clients include domestic and foreign individuals and closely-held and institutional business entities, which act in the role of owner, landlord or tenant, borrower and developer in matters throughout the United States. He has also represented federal, state and foreign charter lenders in commercial, industrial and residential real estate loans and refinancings, working capital loans and asset-based financings and foreclosure and workout arrangements.

Commenting on his move to Squire Sanders, Mr. Young said, “With over 150 real estate professionals spanning the globe and a strong presence across Florida, Squire Sanders offers an ideal platform for my practice. I look forward to bringing these resources to bear for the clients that I service.”

J.B. Murray, managing partner of Squire Sanders’ West Palm Beach office commented, “We have been looking for some time to continue to build upon Squire Sanders’ leading real estate practice as part of our strategic regional planning in Florida. Greg’s diverse experience makes him a perfect fit and we’re glad to have him join the firm.”

Mr. Young is the latest addition in Florida for Squire Sanders. In February, Barbara P. Alonso joined the firm’s Financial Services Practice Group as a partner in the Miami office from Greenberg Traurig.
