Ogletree Deakins Continues Momentous Growth in Washington, Adds Shareholder John Martin

Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C. (Ogletree Deakins), one of the largest labor and employment law firms representing management, is pleased to welcome John Martin as a shareholder in its Washington office. Martin is the third shareholder to join Ogletree Deakins’ Washington office this year. The office welcomed former National Mediation Board member Liz Dougherty in February, and former National Labor Relations Board member Brian Hayes joined the firm in January.

Martin joins Ogletree Deakins from the Dallas-based commercial litigation firm, Gruber Hurst Johansen Hail Shank LLP. A seasoned litigator, he focuses his practice on workplace safety litigation and compliance, as well as labor and employment issues. Martin has substantial experience as lead counsel, including appellate briefings before the Fifth and Seventh Circuits and the U.S. Supreme Court.

“The recent additions of John Martin, Liz Dougherty and Brian Hayes have significantly deepened the bench strength of our Washington office, expanding our service to clients within the district and across the country,” said Melissa Bailey, managing shareholder of the Washington office of Ogletree Deakins. “John is a veteran litigator that is known for the noteworthy judgments he receives on behalf of his clients. His extensive knowledge, which includes a wealth of experience dealing with workplace safety issues in the oil and gas industry, also brings additional depth to Ogletree Deakins’ national Workplace Safety and Health practice group.”

Martin earned his J.D., cum laude, from the Texas Tech University School of Law and his B.A from the University of Texas. He is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell and was selected as a “Rising Star” by Texas Monthly and Law & Politics Magazines (2005-2007).
