European law firm Field Fisher Waterhouse has advised the Department for Transport on a £1.6bn contract to provide Britain’s ‘blue light’ helicopter search and rescue service.
The Department for Transport awarded the 10 year contract to Bristow Helicopters Limited. The rescue service is currently run by the Royal Air Force, the Royal Navy and the Maritime & Coastguard Agency. Bristow plans to replace the current Sea King and civilian helicopters with new models.
Field Fisher Waterhouse Competition & EU Regulatory partner John Cassels led on the deal, working withTechnology solicitor Rebecca Fisher and a number of colleagues across the firm. The team advised on the whole process including developing the project documents, the dialogue with bidders and contract finalisation.
