DAC Beachcroft Expands Global Footprint with New Associations In Colombia and Malaysia

International law firm DAC Beachcroft has significantly expanded its global footprint after sealing new associations with partner firms in Colombia and Kuala Lumpur.

The firm’s presence in South America has received a boost after reaching agreement with specialist insurance firm De La Torre & Monroy last month. The Bogota-based firm has been operating for 20 years under the direction of founding partners, Camila de la Torre and Gabriela Monroy, during which it maintained a relationship with legacy firm Davies Arnold Cooper.

De la Torre & Monroy is ranked No. 1 in Chambers for Insurance in Colombia. The firm also has strong links with both the local Colombian insurance market and the London reinsurance market.

The new association, which took effect last month, will enable both firms to service clients together and to jointly market their services to the Colombian and London markets. With representation in Mexico, Brazil, Chile and Colombia, DAC Beachcroft now has an unrivalled local presence in the four most important LatAm insurance markets.

Commenting on the new association, DAC Beachcroft Sector Head for Insurance, David Pollitt, said: “We are delighted to have sealed our association with De La Torre & Monroy, which marks an important formalisation of a long-standing relationship. They are well-respected specialists in Colombia and beyond and this association allows us to maximise the benefits of our relationship in this important, emerging market.”

Meanwhile, DAC Beachcroft has also reached agreement for a formal association with Malaysia’s Gan Partnership.

The deal will allow the firm’s established Singapore office to support its own clients and those of Gan both in Malaysia and more widely in Asia and establishes a broader international platform from which to service their needs.

Steven Dewhurst, Partner in DAC Beachcroft’s Singapore office, was instrumental in securing the new association. He said: “We are excited by the prospect of working in tandem with Gan Partnership to service our key clients, many of whom are represented in Malaysia.”

He added: “The country is closely connected to Singapore in geographical, political and commercial terms, so establishing a platform in Malaysia makes strategic sense for both our Asian business and the firm as a whole. We have high expectations for a very successful future there.”

Commenting on the twin associations, DAC Beachcroft Managing Partner, Paul Murray, said: “The signing of these new associations is excellent news for DAC Beachcroft, marking, as it does, another significant step toward strengthening our position as a leading international provider of legal services to clients in the insurance sector.”
