Pinsent Masons Appoints Financial Services Regulatory Expert

International law firm Pinsent Masons has boosted its Financial Services team in the City with the appointment of regulatory specialist Monica Gogna, who joins as Partner.

Monica joins from Clifford Chance where she was a Senior Associate. Prior to entering private practice, she worked as an analyst for JP Morgan.

Monica’s arrival will enhance Pinsent Masons’ Financial Regulation team which advises clients across the full spectrum of UK financial services. This is a timely addition to the Financial Regulation team when firms are increasing their focus on the upcoming impact of EU regulations, including the Alternative Fund Managers Directive (AIFMD), Packaged Retail Investment Products Directive (PRIPS), Undertakings for the Collective Investment of Transferable Securities (UCITS V) and European Market Infrastructure Regulation (EMIR). Monica will also work closely with the firm’s specialist funds and derivatives group to build on Pinsent Masons’ expertise in developing retail products and platforms, such as exchange traded funds (ETFs).

Commenting on the appointment John Salmon, Head of the Financial Services sector at Pinsent Masons, said:
“Monica has an impressive understanding of financial regulation developed as part of her work with a number of large international banks, private equity firms and asset managers. Understanding and adapting to the fast-changing regulatory environment is key to our clients and Monica’s arrival will further enhance our ability to help keep them ahead of the curve.”

Monica’s arrival follows the appointment of Financial Services Disputes specialist Michael Isaacs from Addleshaw Goddard and Indirect Tax Advisory expert Darren Mellor-Clark from KPMG into Pinsent Masons’ London headquarters earlier this year.
