Brown Rudnick Strengthens Its Global Corporate Practice with the Addition of Adolfo R. Garcia

Brown Rudnick LLP is pleased to announce that Adolfo R. Garcia has joined the Firm’s Boston office as a partner in the Corporate & Capital Markets Department. Prior to joining Brown Rudnick, Mr. Garcia was a partner at K&L Gates. Previously Mr. Garcia was a partner in the Corporate Department at Ropes & Gray and served as co-founder and co-head of Ropes & Gray’s International Practice where he integrated, managed and expanded a valuable worldwide network of international counsel.

With the recent addition of former Wilmer Hale partner Tim Matthews to Brown Rudnick’s London office, the Firm continues to expand and strengthen the global reach of the corporate practice.

For over 35 years, Mr. Garcia has been advising clients in sophisticated corporate matters around the globe. His practice has focused on corporate and business transactions involving public and private clients, including closely-held and family businesses, various types of financings, private equity, securities, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, investments, restructurings and contractual arrangements. Mr. Garcia has also been called upon to manage or supervise major arbitration, mediation and litigation matters, domestically and internationally.

Mr. Garcia represents clients on legal matters that arise both in and outside the United States, including Western Europe (particularly the UK, Spain, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy and Ireland), Canada, Central and South America (particularly Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru and Venezuela), the Caribbean, Asia (particularly China, Hong Kong and Japan), and the Middle East (particularly the Emirates, the Gulf and Saudi Arabia).

Mr. Garcia represents and advises non-US based clients with both their US and international issues. At Ropes & Gray, he assembled and supervised a team of lawyers, para-professionals and non-US counsel that focused on advising investment banking, investment management, funds and other financial services clients with the securities and related investment and reporting requirements in over 100 foreign countries.

He also advises clients in connection with US and other laws and regulations applicable to US and non-US clients such as the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), the UK Bribery Act, the US Export Administration Act and US laws and regulations administered by the US Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC).

“We are delighted to welcome Dolf to the Firm,” said Joseph F. Ryan, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Brown Rudnick. “Few US attorneys can rival Dolf’s global expertise, or his reputation for being a world class corporate advisor. Our clients in the US and abroad will benefit greatly from Dolf’s knowledge, capabilities and tremendous depth of experiences. With the addition of Dolf to our corporate practice, Brown Rudnick further advances our strategic goal of providing top tier legal talent and expertise to our clients who do business here and across the globe.”

Sam Williams, head of Brown Rudnick’s Corporate & Capital Markets Department, added, “As the demand for our services in private equity and cross-border deals continues to grow, Dolf will contribute greatly to our bench strength in these areas in particular.”

“I am very pleased to be joining a firm that is so highly regarded both here and abroad,” commented Mr. Garcia. “I was attracted to Brown Rudnick because of its strong firm culture and team oriented approach to client service which will be of great benefit to my clients.”

Mr. Garcia received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and his A.B., magna cum laude, from Harvard University.
