Benesch’s Innovations, Information Technology & Intellectual Property Practice Group Grows in Columbus With Addition of Two Attorneys

Benesch is pleased to announce that Benjamen E. Kern has joined the firm as a partner in the Innovations, Information Technology & Intellectual Property (3iP) Practice Group and Thomas Y. Kendrick has joined the 3iP Practice Group as an associate. Both will work out of Benesch’s Columbus office.

Mr. Kern is a registered patent attorney whose patent-related experience includes technology areas such as pharmaceutical and therapeutic compositions, biotechnology, biomedical engineering, laser physics and mechanics, “green” chemistry and industrial processes, batteries, medical devices, organometallics, plastics, polymers, resins, rubbers, paints, chemical processes, and adhesives. Mr. Kern earned his J.D. from Capital Law School, summa cum laude, his M.S. in Organic Chemistry from The Ohio State University and his B.S. in Chemistry from Denison University.

Mr. Kendrick is experienced in the procurement of patents, from the time of invention disclosure up through issuance. His patent prosecution experience includes such technology areas as structural component engineering, tire mechanics and design, medical devices, tools, and household wares. Mr. Kendrick earned his J.D. from The University of Akron Law School and his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Akron.
