Williams Mullen is pleased to announce that two respected environmental attorneys, John Daniel and Lynne Rhode, have joined the firm as partners. Both attorneys were previously with Troutman Sanders and bring considerable experience to Williams Mullen’s existing environmental practice.
Mr. Daniel is well-known across the Commonwealth, having served as Assistant Attorney General, Deputy Secretary of Commerce and Resources, and Secretary of Natural Resources. His experience gives him perspective in representing both private and public interests before Virginia and federal agencies and boards. Mr. Daniel also maintains a significant legislative and lobbying practice representing clients on environmental, energy and resource issues.
Ms. Rhode has a broad background in environmental and energy law and has represented government and business clients on such things as permitting, due diligence, compliance and enforcement issues. In 2011, she served on the Department of Environmental Quality’s Combustion Regulatory Advisory Panel and currently serves on the Board of the Environmental Law Section of the Virginia Bar Association.
“John and Lynne will be great additions to our environmental team,” said Channing Martin, head of Williams Mullen’s Environmental Law and Climate Change practice. “John’s background in the public sector gives him an advantage in helping our clients with regulatory issues, and Lynne is a very capable attorney who knows how to find solutions for clients.”
Both Mr. Daniel and Ms. Rhode have been recognized for excellence in their practice. Mr. Daniel has been recognized by several top ranking publications, including Chambers USA’s America’s Leading Lawyers, Virginia Business Magazine’s “Legal Elite,” Virginia Super Lawyers, and The Best Lawyers in America. He has also achieved Martindale-Hubbell’s highest rating for legal ability and ethical standards. Ms. Rhode has also been recognized as a Virginia Leading Lawyer in Environmental Law by Chambers USA and a Virginia “Rising Star” in Environmental & Natural Resources by Virginia Super Lawyers. She was also given the 2009 James C. Roberts Outstanding Achievement in Pro Bono Award.
