Maddocks Builds on Projects Expertise with the Appointment of New Partner

Maddocks continues to build the strength of its projects team with the appointment of major projects and infrastructure partner, Simela Karasavidis.

Simela, who has recently returned to Australia from the UK, brings with her almost 20 years’ experience in infrastructure, project finance and energy projects. She joins Maddocks from global firm White & Case.

Simela has been involved in many significant and complex projects and has extensive experience in PPPs, and infrastructure concessions. She has advised public and private clients in a variety of sectors in the UK, Europe, Australia, Middle East and Africa.

According to Simela, “Maddocks provides the perfect opportunity to build upon existing relationships with international contractors and operators, many of whom have a presence in Australia, and to use my substantial experience in UK Government and emerging market projects for the benefit of Maddocks Government clients. This is an exciting time to be involved in Australian infrastructure and energy projects, and I’m looking forward to developing a practice where I can apply my experience of international models and best practice. Maddocks’ focus on the infrastructure sector means I can work with like-minded individuals, who are committed to understanding their clients and helping them achieve their objectives.”

David Rennick, Maddocks’ CEO was thrilled to welcome Simela to the firm: “Simela has outstanding skills and a breadth of experience in projects in a variety of sectors. This experience will be invaluable in strengthening the solutions we are able to offer our clients in the infrastructure, government and services sectors.”
