Senior Aerospace and Defense Lawyer Jerald S. Howe, Jr. Joins Fried Frank

Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP announced today that Jerry Howe has joined the Firm as a partner in the Government Contracts and Aerospace & Defense Practices, resident in the Washington, DC office. Mr. Howe will provide regulatory/industry counsel on M&A and private equity transactions in the aerospace & defense industry as well as government contracts litigation, investigations and bid protests. He brings more than 25 years of experience in the aerospace, defense and intelligence sectors.

Mr. Howe joins the Firm having served most recently as Senior Vice President and General Counsel at TASC, a leading aerospace & defense company. In this position, Mr. Howe oversaw the company’s legal affairs, corporate development and M&A, ethics and compliance programs, government relations and security. Previously, he was owner and principal of InSequitur LLC, a consulting firm, and Executive Vice President of the Olive Group. Mr. Howe also served as Senior Vice President & General Counsel of Veridian Corporation, a publicly traded company that provided advanced technology services and solutions to the intelligence community, military and homeland defense agencies.

Before joining the corporate world, Mr. Howe was a partner for nine years at Steptoe & Johnson LLP, where his practice focused on aerospace law and transactions, government contracts law and litigation with an emphasis on high-technology procurement, and federal court civil and appellate litigation. He represented preeminent defense, aerospace and information technology companies including Boeing, Hughes, McDonnell Douglas and Motorola.

Mr. Howe has served as chair of the Washington Space Business Roundtable
and president of the Federal Circuit Bar Association. He currently serves as a moderator with Aspen Institute and treasurer of No Labels.org.

Mr. Howe received his JD, cum laude, from Harvard Law School, where he was an editor of the Harvard Law Review; his MA, with honors, from Oxford University, where he was a Sachs Scholar; and his AB, magna cum laude, from Princeton University and its Woodrow Wilson School of Public & International Affairs. Mr. Howe is a former law clerk for Judge George MacKinnon of the US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit. He is admitted to the bar in the District of Columbia.
