DLA Piper Advises on IPO of World’s Largest Animal Health Group

DLA Piper Weiss-Tessbach in Vienna has advised animal health specialist Zoetis on restructuring measures in Austria, in relation to its stock exchange debut in the United States.The Pfizer subsidiary was able to secure a significant price gain and is now the largest publicly listed company in the animal-health sector.

Zoetis has been operating since the 15th February 2013, having originally been founded as a sister company of the Vienna-based Pfizer Corporation Austria Gesellschaft m.b.h. Zoetis is regarded as a world leader in veterinary medicine and is the world’s largest animal-health company with more than 9,500 employees.

“We are pleased that this extensive project has been completed successfully,” said Christoph Mager, partner and head of the Vienna Corporate group. “Transactions, where a number of local jurisdictions are involved, always bear a risk, because even the smallest delay can have a huge impact.

“In addition to our corporate know-how, our profound experience in the life science sector was an asset for the successful advice,” added senior associate Elisabeth Stichmann, who coordinated the project in Austria.
