Karim Mahmud Joins Jones Day in London

The global law firm Jones Day has announced that Karim Mahmud has joined the Firm as a partner in the London Office, as a member of the Projects & Infrastructure Practice. He was previously with the London and Bahrain offices of Blake, Cassels and Graydon LLP.

Mr. Mahmud has more than 20 years of experience working on major energy projects around the world. He has worked in more than 40 countries in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and North America. In the petroleum sector, Karim has worked on oil, gas, heavy oil, shale gas, and LNG projects. He has led multidisciplinary teams on all legal matters related to the structuring, negotiation, development, and implementation of major projects including their acquisition, joint venture arrangements, exploration and development agreements, production and offtake contracts, storage agreements, and the provision of related oilfield services. He also has strong experience in infrastructure development including EPC, EPCM and project management agreements. He is a member of The Association of International Petroleum Negotiators and is listed as a leading Oil & Gas lawyer by Lexpert. Karim has also spoken at numerous international energy and infrastructure conferences including the World Petroleum Congress in Doha, Qatar in December 2011.

In addition to oil and gas, Mr. Mahmud has strong project development experience in the mining, power (conventional, renewable, and nuclear projects) and infrastructure arenas. Alongside project developers and sponsors, Mr. Mahmud has advised governments, multinational companies, and an array of financial institutions.

Mr. Mahmud earned a B.A. in Jurisprudence from Oxford University and an LL.B. from Dalhousie University.
