A new partner appointment at Shoosmiths has added commercial litigation expertise to its Manchester office.
Kath Livingston, who has more than 19 years’ experience advising clients involved in a broad range of business disputes, joins from Eversheds.
She has particular knowledge of online defamation and reputation management, especially in social media, but also in print.
It has seen her advise clients on reputation/brand protection strategies, their dealings with the media, trade libel, internet defamation, and website shutdowns.

Livingston advises a diverse range of clients, from large global businesses and public limited companies, to SMEs and entrepreneurs.
Her core practice areas include contract disputes; shareholder, joint venture and agency disputes; negligence claims against professionals; commercial fraud; and disputes arising out of corporate deals, including warranty claims.
She has many years’ experience pursuing claims through the courts and via arbitration, and of resolving disputes using negotiation and alternative dispute resolution, such as mediation.
