Gilbert + Tobin Appoints Infrastructure Partner and Senior Associate

Gilbert + Tobin is strengthening its Energy and Resources practice with the appointment of a new partner, Phil McKeiver and senior associate, Fionn Bowd.

Phil and Fionn join the firm from Oakajee Port and Rail where they both held senior counsel roles and will bring extensive knowledge in the areas of rail and port infrastructure, mining, property, land access, approvals, corporate agreements, competition and regulation.

Perth managing partner, Michael Blakiston said that the appointments will add to the ongoing growth and development of the firm’s Energy and Resources practice, particularly in the area of infrastructure and projects.

“We are very pleased to be welcoming both Phil and Fionn to the team. I am certain they will make a significant contribution and increase our capacity to advise clients on a project’s entire lifecycle.”

“Infrastructure is a key component of the resources industry and there is no doubt increasing pressure to expand production and distribution infrastructure to support new or extended projects. I believe our team has extensive knowledge and experience to support clients who are facing infrastructure issues including regulation and land access challenges,” he said.

Prior to joining Oakajee Port and Rail, Phil and Fionn both worked on major infrastructure projects at Telstra Corporation and Blake Dawson (now Ashurst). Phil has extensive experience in rail infrastructure, having previously worked on the Southern Cross Railway Station Redevelopment in Melbourne, the purchase of rolling stock for a major rail concession and on the Channel Tunnel Rail Link project for Railtrack Plc in London.

Fionn joined the team on Monday 4 February 2013 and will share her time between Gilbert + Tobin’s Perth and Melbourne offices. Phil will commence as a partner on 18 February 2013 and will be based in the Perth office.
