International law firm Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) today, Monday 4 February, announced the appointment of highly experienced international contentious construction partner, David Robertson, further bolstering its global arbitration capabilities.
Previously David was a partner at specialist construction firm Fenwick Elliott where he worked for nine years in their international arbitration practice. Prior to this, he spent three years as an associate in Baker & McKenzie, Sydney. Between 1998-2000, he acted as a legal advisor to the Bahrain Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
With a particular focus on Asia and the Middle East, David’s practice centres on dispute resolution and arbitration across large-scale international construction, energy & infrastructure projects, including oil & gas, and power & water. David is licensed to practice in three jurisdictions and has a proven track record working with international clients – particularly Korean companies looking to invest into the Middle East.
David’s multi-jurisdictional expertise will allow BLP to further expand capabilities in the UK, Asia, and the Middle East and to provide clients with a greater depth and breadth across key international markets. BLP’s growth in these regions feeds back to its strategy of investing into emerging markets.
Bob Maynard, Head of Construction Disputes at BLP, said: “David’s strong expertise in contentious litigation, across multiple markets, in addition to his proven background in key BLP sectors like energy and construction will significantly add to our capabilities. His demonstrated technical skills on high-end multi-jurisdictional disputes will also bolster BLP’s practice offer ensuring we are well placed to meet the future needs of clients.”
David said: “BLP has an exceptional reputation in complex international construction and energy transactions. BLP’s presence in the markets where my clients are looking to develop their business, like Asia and the Middle East, provides a fantastic platform for me to help them grow.”
