The law firm of Edwards Wildman Palmer LLP is pleased to announce that Alethia N. Nancoo has joined the firm as a partner in the Public Finance Department, residing in the firm’s office in Washington, DC.
Nancoo brings an impressive background in public and project-debt financings, with a clientele comprised of municipalities, public issuers and authorities, nonprofit corporations, and investment banks. She has advised clients in the US and Caribbean in infrastructure construction; airport, toll road and surface transportation; mixed-use multifamily housing; and water and sewer matters. Nancoo is also a frequent speaker on airport and surface-transportation financings, among other areas.
“Alethia adds a dynamic component to our growing group, and we are very pleased that she has decided to join us in the District,” said Walter St. Onge, the chair of Edwards Wildman’s Public Finance Department. “With her impressive background serving public and private entities in financings, she fills a need for our clients in the mid-Atlantic region and beyond.”
Nancoo comes to Edwards Wildman from the Washington, DC office of Hogan Lovells, where she was a partner in the infrastructure, project and public finance practice group. She has advised several major airports and authorities in a variety of matters, including the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, the City and County of Denver in connection with Denver International Airport, the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, and the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, among others.
A graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park, where she earned undergraduate and master’s degrees, Nancoo earned her law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School. She is admitted to practice in Virginia, Wisconsin, and the District of Columbia.
Nancoo’s arrival comes shortly after Ray Perez joined the Public Finance Department as a partner in Madison, NJ.
