Energy and Environmental Lawyer John P. Englert Joins Saul Ewing’s Pittsburgh Office

Saul Ewing LLP is pleased to announce that John P. Englert has joined the firm as a partner in the Energy, Environment and Utilities Department. Mr. Englert, who focuses his practice on energy, environmental, and safety and health matters for commercial and industrial clients, will be resident in Saul Ewing’s Pittsburgh, PA office.

Mr. Englert advises energy and industrial clients on regulatory matters, permitting and ongoing compliance as well as matters relating to hazardous material transportation and environmental cleanup. He also handles matters involving licensing, use, disposal and cleanup of radioactive materials, pursuant to Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Department of Energy and state regulatory programs.

Mr. Englert has a strong background in the sciences and a previous career in the energy industry. He has a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences and a master’s degree in natural sciences. Before earning his law degree, he worked as a scientist and an environmental and radiological consultant, primarily in the nuclear industry.

“John is a smart, seasoned environmental and energy lawyer who has a strong connection to the legal community in Pittsburgh,” said Steven J. Picco, chair of the Energy, Environment and Utilities Department. “He has experience working on matters relating to coal-fired power plants, wind farms and the Marcellus Shale industry and is well positioned to take on similar opportunities for us in this region.”

The addition of Mr. Englert to the Pittsburgh office also builds on Saul Ewing’s commitment to expand its presence in western Pennsylvania. Since the office opened in 2012, the firm has welcomed new clients and served current clients throughout the region with a strong team of attorneys who are active members of the Pittsburgh community. The firm has made increasing its presence in the Pittsburgh market a top priority for 2013.

Mr. Englert is a triple graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo. He earned his law degree there in 1993 as well as his master’s degree in 1980 and his bachelor’s degree in 1977.
