We have recruited Kim Walker, Partner, to our Commercial team. Kim joins from Pinsent Masons where he was a partner and former Head of Intellectual Property with a wide-ranging practice focusing on contractual and advisory work involving IP, IT and commercial law.
Kim recently completed a second period of secondment as the acting Principal Commercial Lawyer at the John Lewis Partnership. During this time he led a team of four lawyers providing commercial and IP advice to Waitrose and John Lewis. Among the transactions he has undertaken for Waitrose is its innovative and high profile strategic partnership with The Prince’s Charities Foundation to grant Waitrose the exclusive rights to use and develop the Duchy Originals brand.
Kim has many years’ experience of advising on and negotiating complex contractual arrangements, particularly for clients in the technology, media, retail and hospitality and leisure sectors. His experience includes outsourcing, supply and distribution arrangements and the acquisition, exploitation and protection of content, data and brands. He has in recent months helped several high street brands expand internationally via franchising, sponsorship and ecommerce.
Having spent the early part of his career as a corporate lawyer he also advises on joint ventures and the IP and IT aspects of corporate transactions.
Kim’s arrival represents yet more significant investment by Bond Pearce in high profile lateral hires that support the firm’s ambitious plans for growth. Kim will be based in the firm’s London office.
