New Year, New Faces: Two New Partners Join Fasken Martineau in Toronto

Fasken Martineau, a leading international business law and litigation firm, announced today that Ingrid VanderElst and David Judson have joined Fasken Martineau in Toronto.

Ingrid joins Fasken Martineau as a partner and a registered trademark agent in our Life Sciences and Intellectual Property groups. She is a recognized industry leader and accomplished author, ranked as a leading lawyer for Life Sciences in the 2010-2012 editions of Who’s Who Legal Canada and as one of the World’s Leading Lawyers for Business by Chambers Global.

Ingrid’s practice focusses on food, pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device matters. She advises on licensing and transfer of patents and trademarks, patent and trademark prosecution and protection of confidential information. She also advises on product manufacturing, advertising, marketing and distribution matters. Ingrid has worked on product licensing, packaging and labeling, drug pricing and formulary listings. She provides guidance on health privacy issues in connection with clinical trials and sponsored research. She also works with clients who invest in biotechnology companies, providing guidance in the evaluation of technology and intellectual property portfolios.

David joins Fasken Martineau as a partner in the Corporate Finance group. He will offer our clients over 20 years of experience in corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions and securities regulatory matters, with a particular emphasis on cross-border financing transactions. He has represented clients in a wide range of industry sectors such as mining, oil and gas, industrial products, financial institutions and investment banks (both Canadian and U.S.), asset management, steel, manufacturing, medical, apparel, hydro generation, technology and real estate.

David has practiced in Ontario and in the State of New York. Along with his practice, David has written extensively in the area of directors’ and officers’ liabilities and securities regulation and has been a contributor to CCH’s Annotated Ontario Securities Legislation and Butterworth’s Directors Duties in Canada. He has also served as a special lecturer in Advanced Securities Law at universities across Canada including the University of Western Ontario, Dalhousie University and the University of Windsor, teaching cross-border corporate finance and US securities law.
